VOCABULARY*
Students have been tracking geometry key vocabulary words. Key words: - Congruent vs. Similar - Perpendicular - Bisect - etc * Please help each student use their vocabulary sheet to study for their quizzes and final task. |
Lesson One: Exploring Angles and Triangles
Construct acute, obtuse, right and reflex angles:
- Estimate angle sizes and measure with a protractor
- Bisect angles using a variety of methods, e.g. protractor, compass, paper folding, Mira
Classify triangles by their sides and angles (scalene, isosceles, equilateral, acute, obtuse, right)
• Investigate triangle properties, e.g., the largest angle in a triangle lies across from the longest side.
• Classify triangles by the number of lines of symmetry they possess

Lesson Two: build, classify, and investigate quadrilaterals
• Classify and name quadrilaterals and illustrate their characteristics.
• Classify quadrilaterals based on geometric properties, e.g., symmetry, number of equal sides, number of equal angles....
• Investigate the relationship between the number of sides in a regular polygon and the number of lines of symmetry it possesses.
